Summer Houseplant Tips
Summer Houseplant Tips
Even your houseplants need protection from our summers. While they might enjoy the refuge in cooler spaces, there are ways the hot weather can cause damage. Here are a few tips for ensuring that our #plantbabies are well taken care of throughout hot months.
• Keep them shielded: Longer days bring more intense sunlight that might require rearranging your plants. Watch where the light falls in your home and for signs of sunburn on your leaves.
Manage temperature: Fans and A/C can cause drastic changes in temperature that plants don't like. Relocating your plants away from vents, open windows, and fans will keep them from experiencing sudden shifts that stress them out.
• Keep 'em hydrated: Not only do fans and A/C cause intense temperature changes, but they can also steal moisture that your plant thrives on. Adding a humidifier can help your plants retain the water they need.
• But don't overwater: The dry air and heat can trick us into overwatering our houseplants. Water meters are an easy way to ensure they are getting the right amount, and using a watering can with a spout will help get the water right where its needed the most.
